An abstract journey through the formation and fading of the Earth, interwoven with the blurred fragments of my family’s history, which feel distant and difficult to grasp – just like the surface of Mars. On this distant planet, a lonely robot studies the geological history, hopeful to find indications of our possible environmental futures, until the robot itself succumbs to dementia.
Inspired by Max Frisch’s novel “Man Appears in the Holocene,” this video essay examines the fragility of our memories, drawing an analogy to geographical topographies. Various imaging processes converge, questioning their own flawed nature. Geological gaps, digital glitches, and the neurological loss of memory appear as different facets of the constant fragmentation and reformation of our inner, outer and digital worlds.
