A table. Two chairs. A Yahtzee score pad filled from the first page to the last. A projection shows a person rolling the dice again and again, always making the same choices, playing a game whose outcome has already been recorded and can no longer be changed.
As Johan Huizinga describes in his concept of Homo Ludens, play is a fundamental way in which people connect with one another and make sense of the world. Through games, we learn rules, test boundaries, and create shared experiences. But what happens when play loses its openness and becomes repetition? When every move is already determined?
The work explores loneliness and social isolation. Although the video projection suggests the presence of another player, the encounter remains onesided – a simulation of togetherness rather than genuine connection, much like interactions within digital networks. The piece moves between closeness and distance, familiarity and alienation. At the same time, it reflects on the recurring patterns that shape both society and personal life, asking whether it is possible to break free from these cycles.
